DAY TWO of four at Sulby School saw Year 1 and 2 refining their graphic design skills with the creation of posters for the up-coming “Lion King” production. Having already made splendid almost life-size cardboard creations for another display in the school entrance, they then turned their hand to digital African animals.
This included researching the animals online with reference to how professional graphic artists simplify creatures when designing cartoons, then using the basic shapes in Apple’s Pages (Page Layout) to assemble their own images. The shapes were edited using the ‘make editable’ feature via a right-hand mouse click - the latter allowing for example the creation of the giraffe (LEFT).
The children then used the ‘advanced gradient fill’ option and more to begin the creation of an African sunset.
Back in school they will be able to add suitable text to the poster and it is hoped that we will be able to include images of the finished production in tomorrow’s ante-penultimate bus blog.
