YEAR 6 spent the morning learning how to best use the school’s equipment to create a series of World War 1 - style podcasts - covering the events of the assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand. (His assassination in Sarajevo precipitated Austria-Hungary's declaration of war against Serbia, which in turn triggered a series of events that resulted in Austria-Hungary's allies and Serbia's declaring war on each other, starting World War I.)
The boys and girls used QuickVoice on the school’s iPads (ABOVE) to record voices and original music, Audacity on osX to edit the recordings, and GarageBand to compile their recordings into podcasts adding sound effects, loops and more.
Initially working in teams, then taking a laptop each, all 28 of the children worked splendidly - an excellent way to end the week. Thank you.
