TODAY IT WAS PROGRAMMING, with Miss Harmer’s class getting to grips with a series of FLOWOL mimics - including the Zebra crossing, three-phase Bridge Lights and the Horse (LEFT and BELOW).
For the horse task, the idea is to wait for the money to be put in the slot, then set off the motors to give the novice jockey a ride to remember... But the trick is to incorporate the two sensors (switches) to make sure the horse ‘parks’ in the lowest position at the end of the time.
FLOWOL uses industry standard flowchart symbols which will be familiar to many. The clever part is that clicking ‘go’ and the mimic comes to life - hopefully operating as intended (as in Suvi’s solution shown here).
