![WHEN YEAR 5’s Miss Huxham suggested ‘animations’ as part of a World War II project, the first thought was something along the lines of a stop-frame animation using software such as Kudlian’s ‘iCanAnimate’.
However, all that requires preparation in terms of creating a set, models to animate and lots and lots (and lots) of time spent painstakingly animating two frames at a time (Wallace & Gromit anyone?)
A more time effective way of creating animations is to harness the power of ‘Actions’ and ‘Magic Move’ available in Apple’s amazingly capable ‘Keynote’ program. Here, you can have swooping Spitfires, ‘Blitzed’ buildings, screaming sirens and much else - all completed with a few mouse clicks. Export the whole lot as a Quicktime movie, then add it to GarageBand (to develop the sounds) then iMovie (for visual filters) - and you have the capacity to make a very convincing 1940s newsreel...
In the afternoon, year 3 had an impromptu recording session of their song “Over the Rainbow” then attempted to mix the vocals with a variety of music tracks to create an original mix.
this initially proved to be quite tricky, but in the end, some listenable results WERE obtained!
