GREEN SCREEN is a staple of TV and movie-making these days, and today Year 3/4 at Braddan School had a go with the Computer Bus green screen and Apple’s iMovie program.
Regular readers will remember that the boys and girls have been studying the adventures of Ernest Shackleton, and today saw the creation of a ‘News Report’ dated May 20th 1916. In it a studio-based anchor introduced the ‘south atlantic correspondent’ who was waiting in South Georgia to interview Shackleton who had made it back to safety after almost a year and a half lost in the ice.
As well as piecing together the sections of film (shot on an iPhone) the boys and girls also added sound effects (wind) and the afternoon group got to grips with the remarkably capable ‘globe’ feature of iMovie which makes an animated map which can be programmed to show the route to pretty much anywhere...

Year 4 and 5 have been studying the explorer Ernest Shackleton and his ill-fated but heroic expedition to the Antarctica...

Today saw the creation of a news report using green screen to create both a virtual TV set and the south atlantic...
