YEAR 3 have concentrated on an introduction to object orientated graphics though the creation of classroom plans.
Children are supplied with a Claris Works Draw document with an outline of their own classroom shown on the master page, and they then use a variety of drawing techniques - duplicate, rotate, arrange, delete - to complete the plan. The plan of their room is then labelled.
This exercise can then be extended into a ‘graphical modelling’
exercise by asking the children to modify the plan, this time using different or additional furniture, adding extra computers or whatever.
Year 3 have also tackled text editing tasks similar to those attempted by Year 2, and some schools have asked for ‘database’ exercises using the Claris Works database program.
Above is a database worksheet prepared for students at Andreas Primary School, whilst below is a text editing sheet, used by students at the same school.
