THE FIRST VISIT of the Computer Bus to Ballasalla School in some very considerable time took place today, with Year 2/3 undertaking some simple programming for the first time.
After they and their teacher (Mrs Cowin) had a look at the many programming options available to this age group (including iPad apps such as Daisy the Dino, CargoBot, and Beebot) and sequencing exercise in Comic Life, yes/no gates with Ask Oscar, not to mention programming in FLOWOL and even Scratch, they began by getting to grips with Terry the Turtle, including repeat loops and procedures.
Later in the day Year 5/6 came on board to begin a session (continued tomorrow) for them and their teacher to find out about ‘Advanced’ Keynote, with hyperlinks, simultaneous builds, and exporting to video.
All in all another enjoyable and varied day - more tomorrow.

IT IS SOME TIME since the computer bus has been to Ballasalla school. But tucked way in the playground next to the hall it began a series of sessions aimed at helping the children and their teachers extend their ICT and Computer skills...
